Darwin Nunez’s red card forced Liverpool to play ten men for the rest of the match. It also played a huge role in Liverpool not winning the game. The Reds drew 1-1 in a match the fans expected a straight win.
Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez revealed to Telemundo that he spoke to Darwin Nunez following the incident. Suarez informed Nunez that opponents would be seeking him several times during matches. Suarez urged the youngster not to give his opponents a chance, or things will get worse on his side.
“Because he is just starting out and to make him aware that from now on [opponents] will be seeking him out twice or three times more often.
“Even more so in England, he’s hearing this from an idiot who made mistakes and suffered for them, but falling down and getting up again made me stronger.
“Don’t give them any more chances; it’ll only get worse.”
Luis Suarez further said he believes Darwin Nunez will bounce back after his mistake on match day two. The Uruguayan international praised his international teammate, saying he is very smart and listens to advise.
“Darwin is someone who listens a lot. He is very smart that way, and I think he will try to turn this situation around; it’s not a big deal, we have all made mistakes, we have all been sent off,”
Suarez further spoke about the English Premier League, saying they make a big deal out of everything.
“The problem is that he’s only just arrived over there, and in England, to put it lightly, they make a big deal out of everything.”
Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool from SL Benfica this summer for 85 million euros. The forward signed a six-year contract with Jurgen Klopp’s team in the early days of this summer transfer window.
Nunez was not impressive to the fans during the pre-season friendlies played by Liverpool last month. He missed several goalscoring chances, which left the fans doubting his ability on the pitch.
However, his performance as Liverpool won the FA Community Shield was exciting. Nunez has already registered a goal in the Premier League this season. He scored a fantastic goal on matchday one as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Fulham.
Darwin Nunez will miss Liverpool’s next three Premier League matches for his violent conduct. He may return at the beginning of September when Liverpool faces Everton.
