Early Life 

Roman Reigns was born in Pensacola, Florida, on May 25, 1985. He is of English, Arbereshe and Samoan descent. 

Roman Reigns attended Pensacola Catholic High School and Escambia High School. He later joined the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in management.  

Football career

Roman Reigns was initially a football player. He played football during his high school days and was named Defensive Player of the Year by Pensacola News Journal in his final year at high school. 

Roman Reigns proceeded with his football career after joining college, where he was a Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team member. He was one of the team’s captains as a senior. 

Roman Reigns was named as All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2006. He registered 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two recovered fumbles before joining Minnesota Vikings in May 2007. However, Minnesota released him one month after joining them after he was diagnosed with leukaemia. 

Jacksonville Jaguars signed him in August and released him one week before the 2007 NFL season. He joined Edmonton Eskimos in 2008, where he spent one season before being released by the Canadian club in November.

Wrestling career

Roman Reigns signed a contract with WWE in 2010. He made his television debut on August 19, 2010, while assigned to WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling developmental territory. 

Reigns formed a tag team with Donny Marlow and challenged for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship, which they lost to Big E Langston and Calvin Raines. 

Roman Reigns made his WWE debut in November 2012 as part of The Shield team that had him, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield would routinely emerge from the crowds to help CM Punk during their early days at WWE. 

Seth Rollins turned against his team members in 2014, causing The Shield to split. Roman Reigns began to fight on his own. 

The American wrestler became the WWE World Heavyweight champion after entering the 2015 Royal Rumble in January 2015. He competed in Money in the Bank for the first time on June 14, which he lost after being attacked by Bray Wyatt. 

Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in November 2015. However, his reign lasted only for five minutes after Sheamus attacked and took the crown from him.

Reigns regained his title in January 2016 after defeating Sheamus on Raw. He won the United States Championship in September after defeating Rusev. 

Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 to win the WWE Championship for the fourth time. He became the first superstar to simultaneously hold the WWE Universal Championship and WWE Championship. 

Personal Life

Roman Reigns has been married to Galina Joelle Becker since 2014. The couple met in 2006 while studying at the Georgia Institute of Technology. 

The couple is blessed with five children. Joelle, their first daughter, was born in 2008. The couple had twin boys born in 2016 and another set of twins born in 2020. Reigns and his family reside in Tampa, Florida.
