Providing an assist is as important as scoring a goal, and that’s why players with the highest number of assists are among the best players in the world. 

Playmakers like Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandez have proven to be experts at finding the right pass in the final third of the pitch. 

Without further ado, let’s find out the players who took the fewest games to provide 10 Premier League assists. 

1. Brett Emerton – 19 games

Brett Emerton is not one of the biggest names in the Premier League. However, the Australian international holds the record for the player who took the fewest games to record ten assists. 

Brett needed just 19 games to provide ten assists in the most difficult league in the world – Premier League. All the ten assists came in his debut season for Blackburn Rovers. 

He joined Blackburn from Feyenoord in 2003. He recorded his first assist in his debut match, which ended in a 5-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Brett then managed to provide two assists in a single game on two occasions.

The legendary midfielder left Blackburn Rovers in 2011 after they were relegated to the Championship. During his time with the English club, Brett provided 26 assists and scored 13 goals in 247 league appearances. 

2. Kevin De Bruyne – 21 games 

Kevin De Bruyne is arguably the best midfielder of his generation. The midfield maestro is one of the players who took the fewest games to record ten assists in the Premier League. 

De Bruyne registered ten assists in 21 Premier League games. His first assist came during the 2013-14 season when he was playing for Chelsea. He played three league games for Chelsea. The other nine assists came in his first 18 games for Manchester City during the 2015-16 season. 

The Belgium international has since established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League. He has helped Manchester City win four out of five titles in the last few years. 

3. Bruno Fernandes – 21 games 

Bruno Fernandes is one of the players who took the fewest games to record ten assists. Like Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno also needed 21 matches to record ten assists.

The Portuguese international joined Manchester United in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon. He was arguably the best player in Manchester United’s squad in the second half of the 2019-20 season. 

Despite his recent struggles at Old Trafford, Bruno is still one of the key players in Eric ten Hag’s squad. 

4. Dejan Kulusevski – 22 games 

Dejan Kulusevski quickly adapted to the Premier League immediately after joining Tottenham Hotspurs from Juventus. The talented winger is the most recent player to join the list of players who took the fewest games to record ten assists. 

Kulusevski registered his tenth assist in the Premier League last weekend when Tottenham Hotspurs beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. The former Juventus man has been on top of his game since joining the London club. He played a crucial role in helping Tottenham Hotspurs finish in the top four last season. 

Kulusevski will be aiming to have a successful 2022-23 season as he provides more assists. 

5. Eric Cantona – 22 games 

Eric Cantona is undoubtedly one of the best strikers to ever play in the Premier League.

Cantona excited football fans with his performance at the start of the 1992-93 season when he was still playing for Leeds. He registered four assists and scored six goals in just 13 Premier League appearances. 

He joined the Red Devils from Leeds United in January 1992, where he continued with his amazing performance. In his first nine games for Manchester United, the Frenchman recorded a total of 10 assists in the Premier League. 

By the time Eric Cantona retired in 1997, he had recorded 62 assists and scored 81 goals in 181 Premier League matches.
