Devin Haney will face George Kambosos in a title defence match later this year. The match will take place on October 15 at the home of the Australian Open, Rod Laver Arena.
Haney will have to defend his lightweight title due to the rematch clause in their contract. The massive second bout will be the first for both fighters since Haney defeated Kambosos at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

The defending champion Devin handed Kambosos his first defeat as a professional boxer in front of a full stadium. The 23-year-old defeated Kambosos by a unanimous decision to retain his WBC title.
However, Kambosos is willing to do his best in the ring to get back what he believes belongs to him. The Australian international described the fight as a do-or-die.
George Kambosos gave a hint that he will walk away from boxing if he fails to reclaim his title from Devin Haney on October.
“I’m 29, and this is the do-or-die for me now. You will not see me if I don’t overcome this fight back in Australia; fighting domestic guys, that’s not me.
“Everything I have, I’ll be putting it to that ring and obviously, my training and God willing, I’ll be victorious October 16.”
Devin showed a defensive masterclass when facing Kambosos. He also demonstrated sensational speed, instinct and relentless left jab that frustrated his opponent. It was not a surprise that all three judges scored the bout in Haney’s favour, 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110.

Kambosos lost in his first title defence match, whereas Devin successfully defended his belt for the fifth time. The American international also took WBO, WBA and IBF titles from Kambosos.
Speaking after the fight, Haney said the victory was a dream come true.
“I was comfortable, I was just sticking to the game-plan … I handicapped him of his best things. He wanted to land the overhand right and the left hook.”
Kambosos first won the belt from Teofimo Lopez, who was defending his title for the first time. Lopez had previously defeated longtime champion Vasyl Lomachenko to win the title.
Devin is now the first undisputed lightweight champion of the four-belt era. The youngster is only the eighth boxer to hold all four belts from the major sanctioning bodies; WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC, and at the same time.
Devin Haney now has a professional boxing record of 28-0 (15 KOs). The American international is arguably the best active lightweight in the world. However, he has a big task of defending his title on October 15.
