  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the subject of initial discussions between Chelsea and Barcelona.
  • As his future at the Nou Camp remains uncertain, Todd Boehly is interested in signing Aubameyang.
  • According to sourcesAubameyang wants to remain a Barcelona player.

It has been claimed that negotiations between Chelsea and Barcelona have begun regarding the possible transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea before the transfer window ends.

Thomas Tuchel is looking to add other forwards to his Chelsea squad after Romelu Lukaku left the club. Chelsea already has the services of Raheem Sterling, but Tuchel is anxious to make the addition.

Aubameyang wishes to remain at Camp Nou

Despite having only signed in February, Aubameyang has expressed his desire to remain with Barcelona. However, the club has indicated that they would be open to the possibility of selling him to earn finances for the registration of their new acquisitions.

This summer, he has had a difficult time making headway in negotiations with elite clubs. As a result, the club has ended up missing out on a number of top players.

This is since Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia have left the club, bringing greater financial restraint and market knowledge.

After failing to capture Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea chose to pursue a contract with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead.

Lewandowski decided to sign with Barcelona in a deal worth 42.5 million pounds rather than joining Tuchel’s side.

Early in the summer, prospective transfer deals were discussed between the new owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly, and the executives of Barcelona.

Chelsea has not yet presented an officia bid concerning Auba

The heavyweights of the Premier League have not yet presented an official bid for the player who formerly captained Arsenal.

However, Chelsea could try to utilise the fact that Tuchel has a strong relationship with Aubameyang from their time spent together at Dortmund to their benefit.

The summer transfer window has not been as fruitful for Boehly’s business endeavours as he had hoped.

Taking into consideration that Aubameyang has scored 68 goals in 128 Premier League matches. He has the potential to be considered a worthy alternative.

In addition, he was successful in winning the Golden Boot for the 2018-2019 season, as he tied with Mohamed Salah and Sadio of Liverpool to share the prize for most goals scored.

However, things did not go well for Aubameyang during his time spent playing in the English Premier League since Mikel Arteta did not include him in the Arsenal squad.

Arteta stripped Auba the captaincy role

Aubameyang had not appeared for the Gunners in three months. Arteta had relieved him of his club captaincy before he left in February 2022.

Auba played for Arsenal 163 times and scored 92 goals while there, although multiple disciplinary infractions marred his tenure there.

In addition, he showed up to training late on multiple occasions. This led to his being placed on the substitutes’ bench.

Arteta has alienated a number of Arsenal players in the past, including Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi, so Aubameyang was not the first player to find himself in this position.

Aubameyang was able to turn his fortunes around at Catalonia. He netted 13 goals across all competitions and assisting his new club in qualifying for the Champions League. However, Aubameyang’s previous club did not qualify for the Champions League.

After the Gabonese international player broke COVID-19 rules by getting a tattoo, the club reminded him of his responsibilities and kicked him out of the team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has identified Aubameyang as a potential new striker and has begun negotiations with Barcelona.
