Barcelona was hoping to get a deal done for around €60 million, but Manchester City wants a lot more.
Silva is firmly focused on the task at hand with Manchester City and is looking ahead to the rest of the season at Pep Guardiola’s side
Bernardo Silva might not join Barcelona this season as the Catalan club much expect. Barcelona has shown more interest lately in getting the transfer done but those hopes could diminish as the Portuguese midfielder expects to stay at Etihad.
Amidst the situational conflicts ongoing between the club’s urge to ship out Frenkie De Jong due to his wages, the Spanish club considered Bernardo Silva as the perfect replacement for the Dutch international.

Manchester City are keen to keep the player as opposed to earlier reports that the player can leave. Barcelona was offering €60 million, but the English Champions are demanding a fee not less than €90 million if they must sell the Portuguese.
Barcelona is yet to make an offer for the player, and while Silva is open to the idea of moving to Spain, he won’t force a transfer from Manchester City in this window.
Bernardo Silva deal at Manchester City
Bernardo Silva is currently committed to Pep’s team and is not much consumed by the rumors surrounding his future. It is reported that the player is more than willing to stay and focus on the project at hand in the English club as the season gets underway.
According to The Athletic, Manchester City is also considering handing Silva a contract extension to raise the value his current deal runs out at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Some within the club are surprised Barcelona hasn’t come in with a bid, having seen them move for all their targets throughout the summer transfer window.
At Manchester City last season Bernardo Silva was a key figure in their success and had an instant impact on the game. As Pep Guardiola bagged his second consecutive Premier League Trophy, some fans vouched him to be named the Premier League Player of the season.
However going through financial difficulties in offsetting the club’s debt, Barcelona have signed among the best players this window.
They have brought in some on free transfer. They have signed Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie from AC Milan, Jules Kounde, Raphinha from Leeds, and Andreas Christensen.
This has happened after the activation of four economic levers – selling shares of the club’s assets against future profits which have allowed them to make some big-money transfers.
It’s unclear whether they have the money to sign and register Silva should they decide to go for him, which is why they’re trying to negotiate a significantly smaller fee.
