FIFA, the governing body of soccer around the world, announced on Thursday that the organizers of this year’s World Cup in Qatar have sold 2.45 million tickets.
More than half a million of those tickets were sold during the most recent sales period, which ran from July 5-16.
According to FIFA, the matches in the group stage that had the largest number of tickets granted were the following: Cameroon and Brazil, Brazil and Serbia, Portugal and Uruguay, Costa Rica and Germany, and Australia and Denmark.
According to FIFA, fans living in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mexico, England, Wales and Brazil topped in buying tickets. Further, United States, Australia and fans from Argentina made it to the top of the list of those securing the largest number of tickets.

The launch date for the subsequent sales phase will be announced by the end of September. Following the beginning of the final phase of the sales phase, Doha will also see the beginning of sales over the counter.
The opening ceremony for the World Cup will take place on Saturday, November 19. That will be a day before the tournament’s first match, which will be played on Sunday, November 20.
FIFA allowed Qatar permission to advance their first fixture so that they can play in the opening game of the World Cup. The hosts of the 2022 World Cup have asked for the start date to be moved just three months before the event is scheduled to begin.
The original plan called for the third match between Qatar and Ecuador to occur on Monday, November 21, after Senegal and the Netherlands and England and Iran.
To kick off the tournament in style, Qatar wants to use the brand new, 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium, which reportedly cost the country over £650 million to construct.
It will be the first time that the World Cup has been played in the Middle East. The tournament was moved to a later part of the year than its regular June-July oppressive summer heat.
Travel costs for this World Cup are 46% higher than they were for the 2018 tournament in Russia. Furthermore, the host has to deal with a number of complex issues including human rights.
There is too much at stake here as an Arab nation hosts such a momentous football tournament.
Traveling to Qatar to watch every World Cup game costs at least €6,500, according to current estimates. The cost of the plane ticket is not included in this total. The most affordable game ticket is $302 USD.

Further, Football fans attending the FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup will have a sobering 90 minutes of the tournament following an alcohol ban by the Gulf Arab state.
There will be no sale of alcohol inside the stadiums hosting this year’s World Cup. Spectators will have to brace themselves for sobriety by default.
Qatar, like many other Arab states, has a rule prohibiting drinking in public, and the most recent move will be a severe blow to the nearly 1.2 million fans attending the World Cup games.
Fans will, however, be able to purchase their preferred beers during restricted times and at specific venues in Doha. This is in contrast to Saudi Arabia, which prohibits the consumption of alcohol in any public setting.
