  • Frank Lampard is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League open era

Football has been the competition that has attracted the most notable athletes and celebrities from around the world.

Midfielders almost universally consider the Premier League to be the best in all European football due to the quality of the opposition they face.

The football world has been blessed with some genuinely incredible midfield magicians throughout its history. Here is a list of the top midfielders from the most competitive League in the world.

1 Frank Lampard

The Chelsea legend consistently comes out on top compared to the other midfielders in goal-scoring. Lampard was a dangerous goal scorer while playing in the middle of the field for his team.

His goal total in the Premier League reached the double-digit mark ten times, significantly more than some of the most prolific strikers in the world. He netted a total of 147 goals for the Blues.

Interestingly, he also worked for Manchester City during the 2014–15 season, during which he scored six goals and plied his trade.

2 Patrick Viera

Many Premier League supporters still think of Patrick Viera as among Arsenal’s all-time best midfielders, even though he is now the manager of Crystal Palace.

However, younger fans of the Premier League may know Vieira in his current role as manager of Crystal Palace.

In the annals of Arsenal’s past, Viera is a significant figure, and his qualities as a central midfielder are the epitome of excellence.

During his time with the Gunners, the Frenchman amassed 279 playing opportunities and was a part of the team that won the “Invincible” Premier League title in 2003/04.

3 Steven Gerrard

Even though Steven Gerrard does not have a Premier League championship to his name, he will always be regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in the history of the position.

Gerrard was a goal scorer adding to his power to pass the ball to his teammates.

One hundred twenty of those goals were scored during his time while playing with the organisation.

The fact that he was never able to win the Premier League during his whole 17-year career at the club is the one thing he regrets the most.

4 Yaya Toure

Yaya Toure, a beloved character at Manchester City, is considered by many to be the club’s first true legend since the takeover by City Football Group.

The Ivory Coast midfielder went to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium in 2010 following a contentious dispute with Pep Guardiola while playing for FC Barcelona.

Toure, who had something to clear up, morphed into a monster on the blue side of Manchester because of this. During his time with the club, he made 230 appearances and scored 59 goals during his career.

The 2013–2014 season was easily his most productive, as he finished the year with 20 goals.

5 Kevin De Bruyne

At Etihad Stadium, Yaya Toure set the standard high for midfielders, but Kevin De Bruyne lifted it even higher. The Belgian midfielder is perhaps one of the best at Etihad as well as around the globe.

De Bruyne won the season’s player in the Premier League last season, and he holds several other records. He has been an essential part of Man City’s Premier League victories..

6 Joshua Kimmich

In the tenth spot, we have Joshua Kimmich, one of the best in his position. Kimmich’s original position was right back in the team.

He has won several titles with Bayern, the most recent of which is the Champions League victory in 2019/20.

N’Golo Kanté is a centre midfielder for the France national football tea as well as Chelsea. He has shown a terrific work rate and amazing defensive talents, even though he is shorter than his teammates.

Kanté was a crucial contributor to Chelsea’s victories in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League in the 2016–17 season.

7 Luka Modric

The player awarded the Ballon d’Or in 2018 is undoubtedly one of the most gifted athletes of his time.

Modric can play in the positions of a central, offensive, and defensive midfielder. The playmaker for Real Madrid is also often recognised as the most accomplished Croatian footballer in the annals of the sport.

8 Frenkie de Jong

The standout player for Barcelona is a box-box midfielder who is noted for his vision as well as his passing and dribbling skills.

De Jong has been honoured with a number of individual accolades, including being named the UEFA Midfielder of the Season for 2018/19.

Manchester United is currently in pursuit for Frenkie de Jong but he is  not willing to leave Barcelona
