Chelsea rekindled their interest in Kounde earlier in the summer, and it was believed they had made significant progress toward acquiring him for the 2022–23 campaign. However, the player preferred Barcelona over Chelsea.
According to one rumour, the 23-year-transfer to the Blues might be finalised by Friday, and the player has already made it apparent that his time at Sevilla is finished.
Nevertheless, despite their financial issues, Barcelona has not given up on trying to bring Kounde to Camp Nou; manager Hernandez Xavi might now really have his target.

Kounde, who has been in frequent communication with Xavi, has reportedly decided to reject Chelsea’s efforts to sign him and is prepared to sign with Barcelona.
The club have reportedly yet to receive a formal bid for the centre-back, but Catalans and Sevilla will now try to negotiate a price.
However, Kounde is rumoured to have pledged to join the team after being granted a pivotal position under Xavi for the upcoming season.
Barcelona will expect to close a deal for Kounde for £46.8 million in the upcoming hours if Barcelona receives a £227 million cash infusion for the sale of 15% of the club’s TV rights.
Kounde, who scored nine goals and added three assists in 133 games while guiding Sevilla claim the 2019/20 Europa League, is getting ready to depart the club.
After figures like Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski, Pablo Torre Raphinha, and Franck Kessie, Kounde would be Barca’s sixth significant summer acquisition.
Barcelona might well have hurt their hopes of getting Marcos Alonso as well as Cesar Azpilicueta from Stamford Bridge by interfering with Chelsea’s attempt to sign Kounde.
