Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala on Saturday won the men’s 100 meters race in a show-stopping end to this year’s Kip Keino Classic that was held at the Moi Stadium Kasarani.

Omanyala whose personal best is 9:77 clocked 9:85 seconds ahead of Fred Kerley of the United States who finished in the second position clocking 9:92 as his fellow countryman Isiah Young took the third position recording a time of 10:13 seconds.
However, Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who was a surprise 100m winner at last year’s Olympics, was due to go head to head with silver medalist Fred Kerley for the first time since Tokyo Olympics pulled out at the last minute.

This is in accordance of the statement issued by the Italian Federation through their website few hours before the start of the Kip Keino Continental Tour Meeting.
“The Olympic champion made the decision this morning with his staff, due to intestinal problems which occurred yesterday (Friday) in Kenya,”. Wrote the Italian Federation.
“Marcell will not report to the starting blocks today because he remains under observation in the emergency room of Uhai Neema Hospital, under the control of the Italian NGO World Friends,” said his coach Paolo Camossi, quoted by the federation.
