FKF Premier League defending champions Tusker FC have a mission in mind, to thin the gap between them and leaders Kakamega Homeboyz when the league resumes this weekend after the international break.
The brewers are eight points behind leaders Homeboyz and will face off with KCB in the return tie at their Ruaraka backyard with eyes fixed on maximum points.
Tusker were held to a 0-0 draw by the bankers when they met in the first leg before the international break but they are determined to make that three points in the second instalment of their meeting.
Tusker FC midfielder Humphrey Mieno has urged his teammates to put in their best to pluck maximum points and keep the chase for the defense of their title.
“The most important thing for us now is to stay focused and win all our matches then we see where we end up when the season closes,” Mieno said.

He added; “It was a very tough match with few chances because KCB is a really good side and have improved over the years. The players were dejected at the final whistle because currently we are holding ourselves in high regard and we wanted all three points. But we take the point and move forward.”
This will be the 20th meeting between the two sides, Tusker has managed to win 10 matches, and have lost only once, the remaining nine ending in draws. The only defeat was in 2015 when the team lost 1-0 to the bankers.
Out of the 20 matches, Tusker has scored 24 goals and conceded 10. Of the 10 wins the team has enjoyed, four have come at home while six have been away.
Last season, the bankers held Tusker to a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Ruaraka and 2-2 in the return tie at the Thika Stadium respectively.
On the standings, Tusker is placed second with 41 points, having gone on a run of 11 unbeaten matches while KCB are fifth with 37 points.
The bankers are also in search of maximum points as they also still harbor title chances. A win will take them to 40 points and reduce the gap between them and the top.

Meanwhile, leaders Homeboyz will be at home taking on an underperforming Ulinzi Stars side. The military club have been a pale shadow of themselves this season and have struggled to knit results. They lost to Homeboyz 1-0 when they met in the first leg.
Homeboyz who are seeking their first ever Premier League title will have to win the match to keep the chasing pack at bay while Tusker and the rest will be crossing their fingers for an Ulinzi win to keep the gap manageable.
In other fixtures, City Stars take on resurgent Bandari in the early kick off. Nicholas Muyoti’s City Stars are third in the standingswith 38 points and victory will help them move closer to Homeboyz.
Bandari have been resurgent since Anthony Kimani took over as coach and they have won two matches on the trot. They will not be an easy opponent for Muyoti’s men and this should make for a tough fixture.
In Narok, fourth placed Gor Mahia lay Wazito FC, looking to complete a double, having beaten them 1-0 in the first leg.
