Kenyans dominated and ruled the Boston Marathon on Sunday, Evans Chebet leading a Kenyan podium sweep in the men’s race while Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir was crowned winner in the women’s race.
Peres beat Ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh in a sprint finish, to add on another Major Marathon title, having won the New York Marathon last year. She clocked 2:22.02 to win the race, four seconds ahead of the Ethiopian.
Meanwhile in the men’s race, Chebet clinched his first ever major marathon title after clocking 2:06:51, with Lawrence Cherono coming second and defending champion Benson Kipruto finishing third.
