The Icons Series, a new concept in sport and entertainment, announced today that its first US tournament would take place on June 30 – July 1 at the historic Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ.
The relentless rivalry will feature a 10-hole team match-play tournament format, unprecedented access for a worldwide audience.

And exceptional exposure for sporting stars like never before, bringing together the World’s most iconic sportsmen across several sports.
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City boss and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, are joining Ernie Els’ Team Rest of the World in the Icons Series to display their talents away from the pitch – and this time, they will be on the same side.
The four-time major champion will captain the team, boasting Guardiola, Kane and tennis’s former World No 1 Ashleigh Barty as they battle Fred Couples’ Team USA.
Team USA will compete against Team Rest of the World for bragging rights and the Icons Series trophy, with 12 icons on each team, led by golf legends Fred Couples and Ernie Els. The following is the current lineup:
TEAM USA
- Fred Couples (Captain) – World Golf Hall of Famer, former World No. 1 and Masters champion
- Michael Phelps – Most decorated Olympian of all time with 28 total swimming medals, including 23 gold
- Michael Strahan – Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion with New York Giants
- Oscar De La Hoya – Boxing legend who held 11 world titles across six weight classe
- Ben Roethlisberger – Two-time Super Bowl champion with Pittsburgh Steelers

TEAM REST OF THE WORLD
- Ernie Els (Captain) – World Golf Hall of Famer, former World No. 1 and four-time major championship winner
- Canelo Alvarez – Boxing’s pound-for-pound king who has won world titles in four different weight classes
- Ash Barty – Former World No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam winner, including 2022 Australian Open
- Pep Guardiola – One of the most successful soccer managers ever, winning two Champions League titles and multiple Spanish and English league crown
- Harry Kane – Dynamic England National Team captain and three-time Golden Boot winner
Team USA and Team World will reveal new Icons to the event program in the coming weeks.
