Vipers host Express in their next Startimes Uganda Premier League engagement on April 29.
The time lag appears the only stumbling block left before they officially win their fifth league title.
For now, they remain on the brink after recording a 2-0 win over Gaddafi at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende yesterday. Congolese born striker Caesar Manzoki is leading that title charge having scored twice to take his tally to a league-high 16 points in a result that put them 14 points ahead of second-placed KCCA with five games left. The latter continued their dismal form in the final bend drawing for the fifth time in the last six games.

KCCA cry foul
KCCA however left Jinja complaining about the officiating of referee Rajab Bakasambe for calls they believed were against them as they drew 1-1 against Bul.
With the game goalless into the break, KCCA came with a better strategy but were unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty. Ashraf Mugume set up Usama Arafat inside the box but Walter Ochora, who appeared to have arrived late on his challenge, brought down the latter but Bakasambe was not convinced enough.

Moments later, the visitors picked another bone of contention with the referees when Davis Kasirye met a cross with a header but the ball hit the crossbar and bounced before being cleared as KCCA claimed the ball had crossed the line. Bul took caution and was on the prowl from there on before finally breaking through in the 56th through Ibrahim Nsiimbe who completed Karim Nduga’s brush for the opener. Again, KCCA felt that the duo were offside before receiving the ball.

Vipers will be crowned league champions if they pick maximum points in their next game.

The win meant opening a 14-point gap at the summit despite a late Davis Kasirye equaliser to deny BUL FC maximum points and cancel out Ibrahim Nsimbe’s goal.

Vipers will host Express FC in their next game while Tooro United will be hosts to KCCA then.

Should the vipers win their next league game, they will definitely be crowned league champions.

The Kitende based side has four league titles and it’s all thiers to lose their fifth one with one hand already holding the league title.

Two league draws could still see them clinch the title and it’s only fair to say that they are ninety minutes away from being crowned champions.

Express FC are the current holders of the Uganda Premier League having won it last season.

At Kavumba, Wakiso Giants lost 1-0 to Soltilo Bright Stars through an own goal from Joshua Lubwama.

The visitors thought they had levelled matters through Frank Ssebuufu but referee Hakim Mulindwa raised his flag for offside although, on replays, the player appeared to be onside.

It was the fourth goal Mulindwa, who recently served a suspension had wrongly disallowed after denying KCCA at URA twice and then Express FC against Tooro United.
