- Jesse Marsch has been confirmed as the new Leeds United head coach following the departure of Marcelo Bielsa.
- Bielsa was relieved of his duties after Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham, ending a series of defeats for the Premier League side.
- Marsch previously coached RB Salzburg and was RB Leipzig’s head coach up until December.
Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of former RB Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch as their new boss, replacing the departed Marcelo Bielsa.
Reports came out that Leeds United had decided to part ways with Bielsa after the thumping at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, that defeat the latest in a string of poor results. Marsch was Leeds’ top target and the two parties quickly agreed to terms on Sunday and an announcement was made on Monday.

Marsch has been looking for a Premier League job since leaving Leipzig, where he took charge of just 21 matches before he was dismissed in December 2021.
Confirming the appointment of Marsch, Leeds director of football Victor Orta said: “We are delighted to welcome Jesse to the club and excited for him to lead us into this new chapter.
“Jesse is someone we identified a number of years ago during his time at Red Bull Salzburg and we believe his philosophy and style of football aligns with that of the club and will suit the players very well.
“We have a long-term plan and firmly believe he can take Leeds United to the next level and are excited for what the future holds.”

Marsch formerly impressed in Major League Soccer with New York Red Bulls before joining Red Bull Salzburg – a sister club to RB Leipzig. In Austria, he won league and cup doubles in both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.
He is now tasked with keeping Leeds in the Premier League. The Yorkshire side have been awful defensively, conceding a whopping 60 goals in the top flight already, but have missed key trio Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford due to their long-term injuries.
Leeds are currently two points above the relegation zone and haven’t won a game since a thrilling 3-2 victory at West Ham in mid-January.
Marsch’s first game in charge for Leeds United will be on Saturday, March 5 when he takes his team on a trip to Leicester in a Premier League clash.
