Tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are bringing the action back by playing at the Laver Cup 2022 in London, the tournament’s organisers say.
The duo, known for their riveting action confirmed their presence at the tournament.
When the Laver Cup was first held in 2017 and again in 2019, both players were members of Team Europe.
However, they were unable to compete in the tournaments in 2021 and 2020 owing to the coronavirus pandemic and injury.
This year around, they will compete at London’s O2 Arena from September 23 to September 25.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back into competition later this year and Laver Cup is very much part of my plan,” Federer said according to Tennis 365.
“It’s no secret that I love the event and I’m super excited to be returning to The O2 and to London, one of the greatest cities in the world.”
Nadal also expressed optimism in playing at the Laver Cup saying the event is unique and is looking forward to participating.
“I suggested to Roger we should play doubles together in London and he seems keen, so now we just need to persuade our captain Bjorn!”
Federer has been off action for the 2021 season due to a knee injury.
In 2021, he played just 13 matches before undergoing two surgeries that left him benched. Federer played six matches in 2020 before he developed the knee problem and took a break.
August this year, Federer came clean with his fans confessing that he is not getting back to the court soon as he is scheduled for more knee surgery.
This news broke the tennis world as he self-confessed that the knee issue will keep him off from the game for many months.
With his presence and Nadal’s in London, Federer revives memories of how a match between them can be.
Federer and Nadal raised the mark once again in Cape Town on Friday, July 7, 2020, where they played Match in Africa 6.
In front of a record-breaking crowd of 51,954, Federer and Nadal battled it out in Cape Town Stadium.
This was the second time in 10 years that both Nadal and Federer were facing off yet again.
The first time they played each other was in Zurich in 2010.
More than a decade later, the two legends reunited in South Africa where Federer’s mother was born. Federer playing here was of sentimental value to him. It was time for him to share the love of the game with South Africans.

The South African match was their first on African soil.
Since the Cape Town match, Federer and Nadal have maintained their world-record-setting performance.
Federer’s foundation and Bill Gates and Trevor Noah shared the court in a doubles match that was a prelude to the main event between him and Nadal.
Federer defeated Nadal in three sets to maintain his perfect record in the Africa Cup of Nations. He beat Nadal6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted for one hour and 45 minutes.
Both players had just completed the Australian Open and agreed to test their wit in South Africa.
