Vipers keep title dream alive, vipers SC moved back to the second spot over the weekend in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a comfortable 4-1 win over Busoga United.
They leapfrogged BUL FC who had taken up the spot following their 3-1 win over Tooro United.
Prolific striker Yunus Sentamu, the red-hot Cesar Manzoki, Ibrahim Orit, and Aziz Kayondo ensured that the venoms picked up all the three points they deserved at the FUFA Technical Centre, in Njeru.
Meanwhile, the hosts were consoled by an Anwari Mustafa Ntege goal. He put the home side in front within two minutes of the game with the referee awarding his side a penalty after Livingstone Mulondo’s handball in the box.
Fresh from injury, Sentamu fired home a free-kick for the visitors to equalize in the 14th minute only for Orit to extend the venoms lead with a header three minutes with an assist from Bright Anukani.
In the second half, the Kitende based side meant business, adding the third within seven minutes of play with a brilliant Manzoki shot passed custodian Micheal Nantamu.
After the hour-mark, Kayondo sealed the win with the fourth goal for the venoms. They now sit second on 20 points after nine games, six adrift of leaders KCCA FC who have played a game more. They will return to action on December 18 as they host Toro United at the St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende.
Meanwhile, Busoga’s woes intensify as they remain 13th on the log following their loss with just seven points. They next travel away to Police FC on the same date.

Kataka remains the only unbeaten club in the 2021-2022 FUFA Big League after match 7 of the second-tier division.
The Mbale-based entity won their latest duel on Sunday, 2-0 over visiting Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.
Joel Baba Onziku and Markus Aka were on target in either half of the well-contested duel. Kataka is now top with 14 points, two ahead of second-placed Maroons.
Maroons edged Kyetume 3-2 at the lakeside Prisons stadium in Luzira.
Fred Amaku bagged a brace for Maroons and Abraham Tusubira added the other for the 1968 and 1969 Uganda Premier League champions.
Amaku opened the scoring business on 34 minutes and netted the score from the penalty spot four minutes later.
Former Uganda U-17 star player Ezra Bida got the consolation on the stroke of halftime with a well-drilled penalty before former Maroon’s midfielder Felix Okot leveled the matters 2-all three minutes into the second half.
Tusubira secured maximum points for the Warders with 11 minutes to climax the game.
Ndejje University climbed to fourth on the log with 8 points following a 2-all draw with visiting Nyamityobora.
Jimmy Nsaale Wasswa and Joseph Okello scored for the students’ side while the league top scorer Clinton Kamugisha (on 6 goals) grabbed a brace.
At the Kosovo playground in Luweero two, home side Luweero United attained their second victory of the season with a 2-0 win over visiting Kitara.
Two first-half goals from Henry Musisi and Joel Kalumwa won the day for Luweero United who now has 7 points from 6 matches.
In West Nile, Calvary condemned Proline to a 2-1 loss on the road at the AbaBet Green Light Stadium in Arua city.
Matchday eight returns on Thursday, 16th December 2021 with several matches.
Three clubs shall be promoted to the Uganda Premier League for the season 2022-2023.
