Asbel Kiprop comeback 2022 is something he holds close to his heart after a four-year ban due to doping in 2017.

In the world of athletics, Kiprop is a name that most people are familiar with. He is known for both right and wrong reasons. To begin with, Kiprop is a three-time world championship winner in 1500m.

He is also a 2008 1500m Olympic champion. However, he stayed off the tracks for four year after testing positive for EPO in 2017. And soon after, a nasty video of him getting goofy with another woman emerged in 2018 forcing his wife to walk off their marriage.

How Did Asbel Kiprop Start His Career?

Looking at Asbel Kiprop comeback, think of a man whose star shone bright in 2007. During the 2007 season, he won the IAAF World Cross Country Championships youth race gold medal.

He subsequently won the 1500 m gold medal at the All-Africa Games. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan, Kiprop set a new personal best in the 1500 m and finished fourth. At the 2007 Kenyan Sports Personality of the Year awards, he was named Most Promising Sportsman of the Year.

For the 2008 African Athletics Championship, Kiprop won bronze in the 800 meters and fourth place in the 1500 meters. Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain won the gold medal in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

But Kiprop was awarded the gold medal after Ramzi tested positive for CERA, a newer variant of the more popularly known EPO. This is the first time since Arnold Jackson in 1912 that a winner won the title at such a young age.

Asbel Kiprop Banned For Doping

Kiprop, who is now 32 years old, received a four-year doping penalty. This embargo on Kipop is slated to expire in 2022. He has maintained his innocence throughout the entire process.

Regardless of whether you believe Kiprop was under the influence of something or not, the entire event seemed bizarre.

The Athletics Integrity Unit previously agreed that Kiprop was notified in advance that he would be tested for drugs. This was in violation of World Anti-Doping Agency standards.

The unit denied his extraordinary assertion that the failed sample was tampered with and EPO was added to it.

Kiprop, on the other hand, continually accused authorities of corruption ever since.

“The line of questioning I was subjected to earlier strongly suggested somebody had an axe to grind.  I have worked so hard to build a career since 2003 when I was 13 years old. The achievements I made are crumbling before my own eyes, for a crime that I have not committed,” he told Runners Tribe.

What Next For Asbel Kiprop?

He says that every November, he undertakes a build-up regimen to get back into the racing game. However, his weight remains an issue.

As part of Asbel Kiprop comeback he has a vivid picture of where he wants to be by Mid-May of 2022. He says that he hopes to participate on the international stage. Possibly one or two Diamond League races before the World Championships trials.

Nonetheless, he admits that he hasn’t done much in heavy training. He is still doing long, easy runs that he alternates with long, easy hill workouts to get my muscles back in running shape.

He expects to get a little bit of a boost in January 2022 before starting track training. He He still does as much as 120 kilometers a week though. It is still a huge thing for Asbel Kiprop comeback.

In addition, he was stripped of all of his racing achievements and championships from November 2017 through February 2018.

All that now seems to be in the distance as the former 1,500m Olympic champion appears to have moved on. Famous athletes in attendance included Vivian Cheruiyot and Dennis Kimeto as well as Geoffrey Mutai

After admitting to cheating on his wife for two years, he made a public plea for her forgiveness in 2018.
