Second Firm Withdraws Ferdinand Omanyala Sponsorship

The gods seem to have conspired against the new African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala as another major sponsor pulled out.

SNOLEGAL Sports and Entertainment Law that handled his doping case on Wednesday terminated Omanyala’s contract.

SNOLEGAL’s lead counsel Sarah Ochwanda said that the firm provided Omanyala with Intellectual property management, legal reputation management, communication and PR services.

However, on September 7, the firm made a unanimous decision to cut ties with Omanyala meaning, the firm will no longer represent him.

“We have not been involved in his decision-making since then and we commend our team for the tireless work they have done for Omanyala, which continues to bear fruit,” Ochwanda told Nation.

She disclosed that SNOLEGAL is extremely proud of representing Omanyala amid media reports that he was in violation of Anti-Doping rules.

Ochwanda added that their sponsorship came while lobbying for the Kenyan Sprinter’s admission to the Olympics.

The firm was also instrumental in setting up its PR and communication channels when negotiating for sponsorships deals.

“However, we also understand when it’s time to leave in order to allow our former client the space to grow and take charge of his own destiny,” she said.

This is the second firm to withdraw its sponsorship to Omanyala this week.

DBA Africa Withdraws

On Monday, DBA Africa, a Sports Management firm pulled out. In a statement on Monday, DBA Africa cited a lack of “shared co-values and vision” between them and Omanyala.

According to the sports management firm, this was the cardinal reason why the sponsorship deal is no longer in force.

However, DBA says it is glad that it played a huge role in enabling Omanyala to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.

“We are proud to have played a huge role in enabling him to compete around the continent resulting in attaining four qualifying times for the Tokyo Olympic Games and achieving many national records and personal best,” read part of the statement.
