Manchester United Throwing Ronaldo Homecoming Party At Old Trafford

Old Trafford will on Saturday hold Cristiano Ronaldo’s homecoming party officially marking his return to Premier Leagues after 12 years.

Ronaldo made a comeback to Manchester United from Serie A’s Juventus. He signed a two-year contract with the Reds.

The Portugal captain is upbeat about leaving a legacy in Old Trafford for the next two years.

The homecoming party comes as United readies to host Newcastle United over the weekend.

As Ronaldo rejoins the now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led United, he has fond memories of this club. He first played for United in 2003 as a teenager and was instrumental to the team’s performance for eight seasons.

United won trophies for six straight seasons under the stewardship of Alex Ferguson. Ronaldo scored a record 118 goals over the six seasons he played at Old Trafford.

He left United in 2009 for Spain’s Real Madrid where he scored 451 goals ten years later for the club.

His last stint outside Premier League was in Juventus where he scored for the Italian club 101 goals until his departure in 2021.

Ronaldo’s move to United was a major shocker and unexpected. If anything, most people expected him to look as Manchester City days before the closure of the summer transfer window.

The Portugal forward has an option to extend his contract with United for one year but is it subject to international clearance.

Juventus struck a €23 million transfer deal for Ronaldo with Manchester United. The money is payable in the next five years when Ronaldo will be 41 years old.

“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday. I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again.

“I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead,” said Ronaldo.

There is a lot of expectation for him in United although it is likely he will be benched in the United’s debacle with Newcastle.
