Harry Kane To Stay At Tottenham After Manchester City Dream ‘Shatters’

Harry Kane will stay with Tottenham until the summer-fall following a flopped move to Manchester City.

He requested Spurs to make arrangements for a possible transfer to Manchester City but the negotiations took too long.

This has now forced him to eat a humble pie and stay with Spurs for the rest of the summer.

Kane in a statement on his Twitter handle Wednesday said that he feels well-received at Spurs.

“It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks,” he said.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.”

Daniel Levy, Tottenham chairman was steering the transfer deal negotiations with City.

The summer transfer window is about to close in a few days.

Manchester City had its eyes on Kane for the summer but negotiations hurdled any conclusive deal between the former and Spurs.

Kane returned to the pitch on Sunday in Tottenham’s game at Wolves. It was his Premier League match for the pre-season after being benched.

The Spurs striker has always wanted to return home after the Euro 2020. He hoped that he would this summer but he now contends with playing for the spurs until summer ends.

Kane has three more years at Tottenham which values him at highs of £120m and wants to keep him at all costs.

Rumour has it that Kane agreed with Levy to make a show for Manchester City this summer but it all hit a brick wall.

In June, City offered a £100 million transfer deal for Kane but Tottenham remained adamant on the figure.

This stretched negotiations between the two clubs, eventually failing to strike the common ground.

In March 2020, Kane expressed frustration with Tottenham for failing to win any trophy – he announced his exit.

He was in talks with City’s Levy in May the same year and expressed his desire to switch from Spurs to Manchester City.

According to Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol, Kane needs City more than it needs him.

Solhekol adds that the talks crumbled because City was not ready to pay such a price for the 28-year-old England striker.

“There are two reasons that move didn’t materialise: Man City weren’t prepared to pay the asking price – it would have been over £150m – and Tottenham didn’t want to sell their icon. His value to Spurs is incredible. He has three years left on his contract.

“I was hearing that some people at Man City were having doubts they should be spending that much on a player who is 28 and who may not have that much of a resale value.”
