Harry Kane included in Spurs Conference League squad amid transfer speculations

Harry Kane has been included in Tottenham Hotspurs’ squad for their Europa Conference League tie with Portugal side Pacos de Ferreira set to be played on Thursday evening.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move from Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium to Manchester City and was even left out by Spurs’ new head coach Nuno Espirito in their opening fixture of 2021/2022 Premier League season when Spurs met Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium on Sunday evening.

Despite being left out of the matchday squad, several reports indicate Kane was in the stadium as Spurs defeat the PL Champions 1-0 in front of the returning fans.

The 28-year old Forward only returned to Spurs first-team training on Friday two days before Spurs started their Premier League campaign after recording a negative covid-19 test.

The England captain can now be involved on Thursday evening as Tottenham starts their maiden UEFA Europa Conference League on the road at Portuguese minnows Pacos de Ferreira.

The striker has now been included in Nuno’s 25-man squad for the play-off first-leg match, which will take place at the club’s home stadium which has a capacity of only 9,077 far from what UEFA Champions League nights offer. Reports indicate that Kane wants a move from Spurs just so to experience and challenge for the UEFA Champions League title

Speaking in an interview with Premier League’s official broadcaster, Spurs Head Coach Nuno Espirito told Sky Sports: “We are very lucky to have him [Kane].

“Harry Kane is one of the best players in the world, honestly, he has to get ready and help the team. We still have to go to Portugal then we think about Wolves, Harry worked this morning [Sunday]. He is preparing himself and when he is ready he will join the group and help the team,” Nuno added

According to some reports from the United Kingdom, Kane is likely to stay at the North London club this summer despite various transfer rumors as Spurs are yet to receive any bid from City apart from the earlier one which was declined.

However, football pundit and former Manchester United and England player Gary Neville believe that Kane’s absence from Sunday’s match is an indication that he is still preparing to leave the club this summer.

“I just read into the fact that, because he was not involved today – every other England player that has been part of the Euros I believe has been involved this weekend – whether it was from the bench or in the squad, Harry Kane would be here today,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

Neville added, “I feel if there was no doubt over his future, I took into it that he has gone.”
