The tennis sensation has missed the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships. A calf injury she sustained earlier this season has led to many negative effects on her.
Simona Halep is the former World No. 1 tennis player and she has had many more outstanding achievements throughout her career.
In 2021, Simona announced her withdrawal from the Grand Slam, few minutes before the Wimbledon Championships draw.
“It is with great sadness that I’m announcing my withdrawal from The Championships as my calf injury has not fully recovered. I gave it everything I had in order to be ready to play Wimbledon and after having such special memories from 2 years ago, I was excited and honoured to step back on these beautiful courts as defending champion. Unfortunately, my body didn’t cooperate and I’ll have to save that feeling for next year,” Halep announced.
However, that was not the first but the second Grand Slam that she missed. Unfortunately, Halep lost points as she was the defending player, thus dropping down in the WTA rankings.
At the Wimbledon 2021, Simona was to defend a whopping 2000 points. However, a result of her missing at the tournaments led to her losing all the points.
Unfortunately, that led to her dropping from World No.3 all the way to the World’s position 9. After the deduction of the Wimbledon points, the tennis icon remained with 4330 points. That undoubtedly put her on the fringes of the world top 10.

Halep got more injuries from there. While in Rome, the tennis player pulled out from the event due to a muscle tear in her calf.
That was the time she was to be in a hyped competition against Germany’s Angelique Kerber. Up to the last week of month June, Simona was the third-ranked player in the entire world.
Later on, it was so unfortunate that in less than a month she derailed further behind in the rankings.
Halep has had a successful career over the years and has held competitive skills throughout. Some of her outstanding achievements and game winnings are the Grand Slam titles both at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships.
Another tennis sensation by the name of Ashleigh Barty is the current holder of the top position in the women’s rankings.
The second position is held by Japan’s Naomi Osaka who also has had a successful tennis career. Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka is the third-ranked player at the moment.
Although several tennis players have pulled out of the much-awaited Tokyo Olympics, there is a fair share of those who are set for their debut.
All eyes are now on the remnants to see how they will perform. The Olympics are set to begin on the 23rd of July and end on the 7th of August. This is after they were postponed from last year due to the strike of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Simon Halep is a Romanian professional tennis player born on 27th September 1991 in Constanta, Romania.
Her parents are Stere Halep and Tania Halep. She has one sibling named Nicolae Halep.
Between 2017 and 2019, Simona was ranked world No.1 in singles twice and maintained there for 64 weeks. This ranks tenth in the history of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
The tennis starlet has won 22 WTA singles titles and has finished runner-up 17 times. She has also made a commendous achievement by winning two Grand Slam singles titles.
The two Grand Slam singles titles were the 2018 French Open and the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.
Halep was the WTA Most Popular Player of the Year for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015, as well as the WTA Fan Favorite Singles Player of the Year for three consecutive years in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
She is a recipient of the Patriarchal Cross of Romania and the Order of the Star of Romania and was named an honorary citizen of Bucharest.
Simona is the third Romanian to be in the top 10 of the WTA rankings after Virginia Ruzici and Irina and the second Romanian woman to win a Grand Slam singles title after Ruzici.
Nevertheless, Halep has been a force to be reckoned with and has maintained a good performance throughout her career.
