England reached its first-ever final in a major tournament since winning the now famous 1966 FIFA World Cup after beating Denmark 2-1 after extra time in a thrilling Euro 2020 semifinals at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The three Lions had to come from behind in front of more than 57,000 fans to beat the adventurous Danes who have had more than a successful campaign.
The match could not be decided after 90 minutes of play and the match had to go to extra time and a controversial penalty decided the match.
21-year-old Mikel Damsgaard converted a stunning free-kick to give Denmark the lead after 30 minutes of play before England equalized through an own goal by Denmark captain Simon Kjaer thanks to pressure by Raheem Sterling nine minutes after the first goal of the match.

Sterling went down in the box after 104 minutes and the referee awarded the penalty, surprisingly the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) confirmed the penalty and England had a chance to go ahead for the first time in the match.
Harry Kane’s spot-kick was, however, saved by Kasper Schmeichel but the Tottenham Hotspur striker pounced for the rebound and scored to give England the lead, exploding wild celebrations at Wembley.

England will now face an Italian side that is unbeaten in 33 matches on Sunday in what is promising to be an epic EURO 2020 Finals at Wembley.
Speaking to the press after the semifinals, England Manager Gareth Southgate said, “I’m so proud of the players, it was an incredible occasion to be a part of. The fans were incredible all night.”
Whilst Italy is the better side comparing the recent run of form, England will hope their home support of well-packed Wembley will play out again as it played out last night.
