UEFA EURO 2020: Patrik Schick scores a brace as Czech Rep sinks Scotland

Patrik Schick netted a brace as the Czech Republic stunned Scotland in their UEFA Euro 2020 Group D match on Monday.

The former AS Roma striker scored the first brace in the competition for a long time as the Czech Republic dominated the game.

25-year-old Schick opened the scoreline in the 42nd minute as he rose above Stephen O’Donnell and Liam Cooper to head home the first goal of the game and the only of the first half.

Schick directed his header to the bottom left of the goal, beyond the reach of Scotlands’s shot-stopper David Marshall assisted by Vladimir Coufal.

Schick, who plays for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen added his second in a sublime fashion. The forward took advantage of way-off-the-line Marshall and took a curler from 49.7  yards out that found the back of the net for probably the best goal of the European Championships.

The ex-RB Leipzig player has now 12 international goals to his name.

Scotland, who missed the services of Arsenal fullback Kieran Tierney at the back had several chances as well but failed to capitalize on them.

The win puts Czech top of their group on goal difference, ahead of England whom they play in their next appointment, and later face Croatia.

The Three Lions sit second after beating Croatia 1 0 thanks to a Raheem Sterling goal.
