Tottenham Hotspur could lose Harry Winks in January - Sports Leo

The Telegraph has suggested that high-flying Tottenham Hotspur could lose Harry Winks in January in search of more game time.

The England midfielder is unsettled at Spurs as he has fallen out of favour with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

The Englishman has only started Spur’s first three Premier League matches this season and has not been a regular starter since then.

The arrival of Pierre Emile Hojberg from Southampton has pushed him further down the pecking order with French architect Tanguy Ndombele improving in the midfield area.

The presence of the two midfielders has locked out Winks who enjoyed plenty of game time under former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Back in 2019, Pochettino called the defensive midfielder ‘amazing’ on the club’s official website, but he has not been able to replicate the same this season.

24-year-old Winks said, “My situation at Tottenham is difficult at the moment and it’s important that I keep fighting working hard as I can to stay in the squad and stay in the team.”

The Telegraph believe the player could be looking for greener pastures next year to better his career.

Whereas Winks has been given opportunities to fight for his place, he has not risen up to the occasion more often than not which limits his space in the starting XI.

Should the deep-lying midfielder fail to impose himself on games then the North London club will be willing to offload the player who nearly joined Manchester City in the summer, according to The Sun.
