Phillipe Coutinho could make 'late loan move' to Arsenal - Sports Leo

Phillipe Coutinho could still make a late loan switch to the Premier League as Arsenal look to land the playmaker.

Manager Mikel Arteta is a fan of the midfielder and maintains interest to bring him to Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes.

However, the tactician faces a massive challenge with Barcelona new manager Ronald Koeman looking to give Coutinho first team play time.

Since making a switch to Camp Nou from 2019/20 Premier League champions Liverpool, the Brazil international has failed to replicate his magic in La Liga.

Due to his lacklustre performance, he was loaned to Bayern Munich where he proved his worth.

He came off the bench to net twice against his parent club in the UEFA Champions League semi-final and recorded an assist in an 8 – 2 win.

He went on to win the Champions League trophy with the Bundesliga giants scooping their sixth European title.

However, the Bavarians did not make his loan move permanent, leaving Coutinho’s career in limbo.

Nevertheless, Koeman has affirmed Coutinho he has a place in the Blaugrana squad, which makes Arsenal task to land him even harder.

The Gunners are in need on more creativity in the midfield area with the Brazilian tipped to offer the services.

They are planning a move for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey with Lucas Torreira possibly heading the opposite direction.

Houssem Aouar is also on the Gunners’ radar.

Brazilian Coutinho has Premier League experience having played for Liverpool before his £106 million move to Barcelona, a similar amount the club paid for Antoine Griezmann.

Arsenal are looking to make a more competitive squad for the ongoing season and add depth for various competitions.
