Yanga and Simbas target Tanzanian defender Mwamnyeto

Yanga and Simbas target Tanzanian defender Mwamnyeto - Sports Leo

Tanzanian defender Bakari Mwamnyeto is the target of Young Africans (Yanga) and Simba Sports Club as the teams prepare to beef up their stocks ahead of the new season.

The 24-year-old Mwamnyeto currently turns out for Coastal Union, but he has also been linked with a possible move to Belgian or Greek leagues.

According to an undisclosed source, the asking price for Mwamnyeto is around R841 000 – a heavy price tag for a player in the Tanzanian Premier League (TPL).

Mwamnyeto’s agent Kassa Mussa confirmed interest in his player from ‘big clubs’, but insisted his young charge still has a contract with Coastal.

Mussa said Mwamnyeto would consider offers once the TPL season has been concluded. He added that the asking price for the player needed to be met before a contract could be signed.

“I cannot name the teams because Mwamnyeto still has a one-year contract with Coastal Union – and the league is yet to end,” Mussa was quoted as saying on thecitizen.co.tz

“Discussing his future is going contrary to Tanzania Football (TFF) as well as the world soccer governing body (Fifa) regulations.”

The TPL is currently halted due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, with Simbas way ahead of the competition on 71 points from 28 games.

Azam FC are a distant second with 54 points from 28 matches. Yanga are third on 51 points from 27 games. Meanwhile, Coastal are placed fifth with 46 points from 28 games.
