Rwanda partners with ITF to hold first-ever beach tennis event

History was made on Wednesday, as Rwanda held a beach tennis event in the country for the first time.

The Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) together with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) held the event at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

“We are going to initiate a programme for the youth so we can start producing beach tennis players. We will also put in place training to trainers who will coach the youngsters on a regular basis,” said RTF president Theoneste Karenzi.

ITF development Thierry Ntwali said: “ITF helps federations by training coaches and giving possible equipment. We look forward to working with RTF in an effort to take beach tennis to all corners of the country.”
