Tihad Athletic Sport Casablanca (TAS) made history by winning the 2018/19 Moroccan Coupe du Trône (Moroccan version of the FA Cup), the first title in the club’s history.

TAS, which plays in the Moroccan second-tier won the title this week after beating Hassania Agadir 2-1 at the Stade Honour in Oujda.

Hassania Agadir opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a strike from Senegalese Malick Cisse.

Three minutes later, TAS equalised thanks to Oussama El Mellioui’s shot outside the penalty area.

In the second half, El Mellioui netted again through a penalty, confirmed after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 75th minute for the winner.

TAS has therefore secured qualification to next season’s Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round.

For Hassania Agadir, it was yet another defeat in the final of the knockout competition after losses in 1963 and 2006.

Meanwhile, AS FAR Rabat won the Women’s Moroccan Coupe du Trône whilst Fath Settat were crowned champions in the futsal category.
