Gambia snatch injury-time goal to force draw against Congo - Sports leo

Gambia forced a 2-all draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo after an injury-time goal in their Group D CAF Total Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Banjul on Monday evening.

The match-saving goal was scored by Bubacarr Jobe in the second minute of added time just when it seemed the Congolese were headed for a 2-1 away win. It was the second time hosts the Gambia came from behind to equalise.

Cedric Bakambu broke the deadlock for Congo just before the break to give The Leopards a lead at halftime.

The Gambia responded seven minutes after the restart with a goal by Pa Modou Jagne.

Jackson Muleka regained the lead for Congi in the 74th minute and that stage it looked like a matchwinner.

However, Gambia salvaged a share of the spoils and the solitary match point takes their Afcon tally for four points on the standings. They share second place with Gabon.

Algeria move to the top of Group D standings.
