Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2021: Madagascar 1 0 Ethiopia

Madagascar started their quest for a place in Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2021 with a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia in Antananarivo on Saturday.

At a fully packed Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo, the Barea showed their hunger to qualify for the showpiece event with a well-worked performance.

Rayan Raveloson struck the lone goal in the 18th minute, a lead they jealously guarded to the final whistle against a hard-fighting Ethiopian side.

Ethiopia who last qualified for the Cup of Nations in 2013 will now hope for better fortunes at home when they take on giants Ivory Coast on Tuesday, while Madagascar will travel to Niger where victory will keep them comfortably in the chase.
