The football gala saw men and women football players and coaches grace the ceremony with their presence.

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo was a notable absentee with his arch-rival Lionel Messi clinching FIFA’s Best Men Player award for the sixth time in a row.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk who won the UEFA Men’s Player award is in the pole position to compete for the Ballon d’Or alongside Messi and Ronaldo.
