Liverpool’s Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi joins Mainz on loan

English Premier League club Liverpool have sent Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi on loan to FSV Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga until the end of the season.

Awoniyi caught Liverpool’s eye when he netted four goals as Nigeria won the 2013 Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

He was signed by the Reds in August 2015 but has since been on loan at various clubs such as FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Royal Excel Mouscron and KAA Gent.

Harry Wilson is another promising winger who has joined AFC Bournemouth on a season-long loan.

Liverpool fans continue to fear for the club as it has been silent in the transfer market with only one signing.

Jurgen Klopp had commented on the same and downplayed any chance of the club splashing mega cash on superstar talent.

However, the loss of two players on loan already, the Merseyside club may need to reevaluate its dealings in the transfer market in order to stay remain competitive in the Premier League.
