Arsenal seal deal for Tierney, eye Chelsea David Luiz

Arsenal sign Kieran Tierney from Celtic - Sports Leo

Scottish international Kieran Tierney will soon become an Arsenal player after the Premier League side agreed to a £25 million fee for the Celtic player.

The 22-year-old defender has caught the eyes of several European clubs and most notably the Gunners who have chased him for a while now.

Arsenal have seen two bids for their target previously turned down.

Tierney did not take part in Celtic’s 1 – 1 draw with CFR Cluj in Romania on Wednesday as he recovered from a hernia operation.

“I’ve said the last few days it wouldn’t surprise me,” Celtic boss Neil Lennon told the BBC on the possibility of Tierney’s departure.

“If he goes, he goes with everyone’s best wishes. He’s an outstanding talent and a great kid.”

Unai Emery has sparked a glimpse of hope in strengthening the back-line with Chelsea defender David Luiz on the verge of moving to the Emirates.

“If we can on the last day, we will try to sign another centre-back, but one who has the capacity to help us,” said Arsenal coach Unai Emery.

With the departure of club skipper Laurent Koscielny to French club Bordeaux, and with William Saliba loaned back to Ligue 1 club Saint-Étienne, the Gunners are in need of a commanding centre-half.

Arsenal conceded 51 goals in the 2018/19 Premier League season, consequently missing out on Champions League football for a third consecutive season.
