Nigeria keep knockout hopes alive with 2-0 over Korea Republic

Nigeria claim first victory in FIFA Women's World Cup 2019 - Sports Leo

Nigeria dispatched Korea Republic 2-0 in their Women’s World Cup Group A match at Stade des Alpes, Grenoble, on Wednesday.

Nigeria were impressive in their performance, as they kept their concentration in defence, worked hard in midfield and finished off their chances in attack.

If they advance to the next round, it will be the first time since 1999.

Nigeria are third in their group, level on three points with Norway but behind on goal difference. In fact, Norway’s positive goal difference of two is three better than Nigeria after two matches. France leads the way on six points with two wins from their two matches. The first two sides advance to the round of 16

The African team will have their work cut out when they face hosts France on June 17 in Rennes. Norway should have the easier path, as they come up against the Korea Republic at the same time on the same date in Reims
