Steve Mvoue, son to former Indomitable Lioness skipper Marie Mvoue is eying a spot in Cameroon’s provisional 34-man squad for the finals.

The strong and pacy 17-year-old who made AFCON debut in the Under 17 AFCON Tournament in Tanzania scored in Cameroon’s Under 17 Nations Cup opener against Guinea and provided an assist for the second goal, to gun down their counterparts 2- 0 at the Chamazi Stadium.

His impact in the match earned him Man of the Match trophy.

Mvoue, who plays for local fourth-tier side Azur Star, was also the top scorer of the 2018 UNNIFAC Tournament with six goals, as his goals led Cameroon to success in Equatorial Guinea.

He is optimistic that his performances with the under 17 and 23 teams are the reason why he has the call up from Cameroon tactician and former AC Milan player Clarence Seedorf.

Talking to BBC Sport, the Under 17 star said, “I feel great joining the national team. It’s an honor and all my life I’ve worked hard for this.

“Now I have to prepare for this. It’s a new opportunity and I have to work hard.”
